Jerry Wilson is a professional music instructor with ten years of experience in the industry. He is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he studied voice, guitar, and piano with some of the most renowned teachers in the world. Jerry has taught hundreds of students in the Southern New England area, where he developed a unique ability to quickly help his students find their voices.
Some of Jerry's students have gone on to start successful recording careers. Others have been accepted into the top music programs in the country. Some have landed lead roles with local theatre companies, and others have simply had fun learning about a lifelong passion. Whatever your goals are, Jerry can help you get there!
I took lessons with Jerry for almost four years and I've improved so much because of them!
My son Mathieu took keyboard lessons with Jerry at School of Rock in Norwood for the past 3 years. Mathieu has a unique way of interacting with people and the world around him. Jerry was able to adapt lessons to meet Mathieu's needs, utilizing a completely different approach to instruction. Jerry quickly identified Mathieu's strengths and capitalized on them to get the best performance possible. Jerry's calm and encouraging nature as a teacher was a perfect fit for my son. Mathieu loved going to lessons each week. I highly recommend Jerry as a music teacher.+ Read More
When I was younger, I would rather do anything than go to guitar lessons. We would rehearse the same five-lined song composed only for learning guitar, not for enjoying guitar, and I would never get to play songs that I actually wanted to learn to play. Jerry's teaching provides an experience far alternative to the boring repetition that I knew to be a standard guitar lesson. Once you learn the fundamentals, he will be sure to teach you what you enjoy so that learning is an experience rather than a chore, regardless of whether he is teaching you vocals, guitar, piano, or anything else that he is capable of teaching. Jerry will work out any issue you have along with you, and he will not become frustrated when you make an error. This comes from experience: Jerry was my teacher for many years, and a majority of my musical skills developed under his guide. So, if you sign up for lessons with Jerry, be excited, because you just made a great decision!+ Read More
My son Charlie and I have take lessons with Jerry for the past few months, and he is a natural teacher and talented musician. He is very patient with his students (young and old :-)) and has been instrumental :-) in keeping my son and I engaged and excited about learning the guitar.+ Read More
Jerry has been teaching my daughter for 3 years. He is absolutely amazing! My daughter's lessons are her favorite part of the week. She can hit all the high notes now, and she always says it's because of Jerry, especially in Let It Go and Defying Gravity. Jerry is an incredible teacher!!!+ Read More
Jerry has been our daughter Ally's vocal instructor for the past year and we're very happy with the progress she's made over that time. Jerry doesn't just teach Ally to sing particular songs; he takes the time to teach the theory behind what she's singing and how she sings it. He has gone above and beyond in lessons to work on the keyboard, reinforcing theory and proper pitch. Jerry was extremely welcoming and positive from the start and Ally always looks forward to her lessons. Jerry does a great job of playing to her strengths, and provides exercises and suggestions for Ally to work on between lessons. I would absolutely recommend Jerry to anyone seeking great music instruction for their kids!+ Read More
Jerry has been my teacher at School of Rock Norwood since I first started playing guitar in the summer of 2014, and he was a huge help to me in learning how to play, guitar, sing and songwrite. Jerry is a teacher who will push you to be the best musician you can be. He's phenomenal at helping students take essential steps in their musical development but letting them determine what kind of development that is. He's also very personable and easy to talk to- he never makes you feel intimidated, even if you're shy. In short, Jerry is a phenomenal teacher and any student would be lucky to have him.+ Read More
Jerry has been our fifteen year old son's guitar teacher for about a year and a half, working out of School of Rock in Norwood, MA. He is friendly, highly-qualified, and a total professional. We have felt incredibly lucky that Finn has been able to work with Jerry week in and week out, and he looks forward to his lesson each week. It has been amazing to watch our son grow as a musician under Jerry's tutelage. Finn was already becoming a pretty good player when he started working with Jerry, but Jerry has been able to push him to new heights. He taught him rock guitar, but also was a key figure in helping Finn get ready to play in one of his high school jazz groups. Jerry has a great relationship with his students and a knack for getting the best out of them. Absolute highest recommendation.+ Read More
