Professional Cake Decorator
The American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), a professional, organization for chefs and cooks, was founded in 1929 in New York City by three chefs’ organizations: the Société Culinaire Philanthropique, the Vatel Club and the Chefs de Cuisine Association of America. Since our inception, little has changed in our principal goals. We are an organization based on promoting the professional image of American chefs worldwide through education of culinarians at all levels.
In 1976, the International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES) was founded in Monroe, Michigan, at the National EXPLO Cake Show sponsored by Betty Jo Steinman. ICES was founded on the basis of cake decorators sharing and caring for their craft. Each year ICES holds its annual Convention and Sugar Art Show in a different location in the United States. At our Annual Convention and Show our members will find incredible cakes and sugar art displays as well as demonstrations and hands on classes. Our Board of Directors and Executive Officers are elected by the membership at this time. Local Representatives are elected in each State, or appointed, to help spread the SHARING and CARING of cake decorating around the world. Meetings, Cake Shows, and “Days of Sharing” are held throughout the year across America and around the world.
