Hello, My name is Jeff Wheeler.
I have been playing drum set for 18 years, and teaching drum lessons privately for 5 years. I studied Music Performance at Berklee College of Music as well as Cal State, East Bay. I currently play and perform professionally throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I work with multiple local acts in the genres of: pop, rock, funk, reggae, and hip-hop. I also perform in the high energy, award winning percussion ensemble known as Street Drum Corps.
My inspiration comes from all styles of music, people, performances, and the grooves of the Motown Record catalog. I am an extremely hard working, self motivated artist who is passionate about my craft. I am funny, friendly, outgoing and passionate about performing/touring and teaching drum set.
Example of our First Lesson:
-your choice of a fun song/groove
- reading and rudiments
-other requests or areas you need help in
I have been fortunate to have toured with great acts such as;
The Vans Warped Tour, Rise of the Revolution, Collie Buddz, Blood and Water, The Phenomenauts, The Groovie Ghoulies, and many others. Also have shared the stage with: Neon Trees, Linkin Park, Bad Religion, The Limousines, Foster the people, Filter, Snoop Dogg, Sunspot Jonz, The Grouch, Murs, Living Legends, Tech-9, Andre Nickatina, and The Hieroglyphics.
I like all kinds of music from Classical to Punk rock, and everything in between.
Taught private lessons, Led full band rehearsals, co-directed shows, wrote and formed lesson plans for shows, and "Rookies" music class, of introduction to music. Taught kids how to rock on stage and in life. I left to pursue my private clients more heavily, but still have a good relation with the school.+ Read More
Performed, sang, and danced in the Nickelodeon Parade @ Great America in Santa Clara, CA. This was the Rugrats crew!
Jeff totally knows how to let me go off in my own learning direction while keeping me grounded in the fundamentals. He's an excellent teacher.
First lesson was great! Will continue learning from Jeff.
Jeff has been great! I'm an adult student, returning to drumming after at least 15 years. My lessons have been fun, and the instructions have been excellent.
Jeff is awesome! He's super kind and patient, as well as talented at the drums. He's definitely invested in his students' success too.
Great lessons, great teacher
It's only been 4 lessons but I really appreciate how the lessons are going. Jeff gives good explanations on how to read music and how to execute on the drums.Good pieces of advice too when some parts are hard to play !
Friendly and great teacher.
Jeff is a friendly teacher. He gives the right amount of homework to practice and is very understanding. Jeff gives feedback instantly in order to help me improve.
I've gotten so much better!
So far, with just having three lessons with Jeff, I feel that the amount that I have progressed in three weeks is far greater than the amount I've improved in the two years I've been drumming! I highly recommend Jeff to anybody.
Great teacher really motivating
Jeff is always keeping a motivating speech but is also challenging. I like the fact that he really designs the class depending on how much time I had to work during the week and how much progress I am making from one class to another! Thanks!!!
Hi, I wanted to let you know that we are really impressed with Jeff. I was wary of teaching a 4 year old how to play drums, but Jeff has been unbelievably patient and Mercer is so excited for his lessons each week. We're extremely impressed with Jeff as a teacher and a drummer. I would absolutely recommend him.!
Patient, talented, versatile drumming instructor
I've never met a music teacher more friendly and laid back than Jeff. I've only done a month of lessons, but as a casual adult drumming student he's a great fit for my needs. He studied at Berklee and plays a lot of local gigs, so he also has a lot of credibility.
Great drum lessons
My daughter really enjoys her lessons with Jeff and is learning well. She thinks the lessons are fun and likes that he teaches new songs and shows how to get better.
