Piano with Jay P.

Hello Students/Parents, My name is Jay and I have been playing the piano since Elementary school and the guitar since High School. A piano upbringing instilled in me the core basics of music and music theory. Which eventually led me to teaching myself the guitar; which led to writing my own songs; which led to opening up all different kinds of music genres. Pardon my candor but as a child my parents forced me to learn the piano and I hated it at the time. I guess it was a rebellious stage! Now, as an adult, I am most grateful to my parents for making me stick with it. My teaching style is simple: FUN with FUNdamentals! I will help my students conquer their fears of the myth that learning music is difficult and convoluted. We will take it slow, step-by-step, and allow the student to progress naturally. I have had my fair share of playing in recitals and concerts and the privilege of performing live in a few bands. But my rock star dreams have been laid to rest and as the saying goes, "Those who can, do; Those who can't, teach." Nothing gives me more joy than to see someone finally "Get It!" and start to play along to one of their favorite tunes. Thank you for your consideration. Hope to see you soon! I will try my hardest to make sure the curriculum is form fitted to your skill and demand because I understand that not everyone learns the same way.
