Jamie's main focus as a teaching artist is to equip his students with essential tools that enable beginners and continuing learners to enjoy exploring the music they appreciate with a strong base in the fundamentals of drumming, practicing, and listening.
He's been a recording and nationally touring musician for almost two decades, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from North Central College. Aside from being an educator for the last 18 years, he currently enjoys freelancing professionally with various groups, songwriters, and producers in and around Chicago and abroad.
Students can expect to focus heavily on fundamental drumming techniques, successful practice methods, as well as listening exercises that are all included in the lesson experience. Above all, learning HOW to practice on the instrument is the main goal that's continually reinforced in Jamie's lesson room.

He regularly collaborates with Laura Joy, Weepin' Willows (a Patsy Cline cover band), and drums with the classic country music quartet, Diamondback at the legendary Chicago honky tonk, Carol’s Pub. Some other notable artists he’s worked with include Andreas Kapsalis, Ezra Furman, Jenny Gillespie, Shahzad Ismaily, Detroit Junior, Megitza and Oucho Sparks.
