Cello with Jack P.

I began studying cello at age 13 and received my Bachelor's Degree in Cello Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY. Since graduating I have been teaching, performing, composing and recording out of Chicago and have expanded my musical boundaries into different styles of music-some of which include folk, math rock and cello pop. I approach teaching the cello in a collaborative and positive way. I believe in facilitating not just lecturing, and in doing so helping my students to come to their own realizations, understanding and enjoyment. My approach centers around comfortable cello playing-the idea that the cello should not be uncomfortable to play and that in fact the more at ease you are, the better you sound! Circular motion, weight distribution and balance are among the most important elements that I emphasize for you to become a happy, healthy and great cellist!
