I want my students to get Joy from Music and be able to have the special skills needed to be a healthy and successful musician.  Lots of emphasis on technique but also personally use alternative styles and FX with my cello to bring the instrument into a modern context. I want my students to also enjoy the music they are playing so I often arrange  modern tunes of their choosing for the instrument. I also teach a variety of other styles including Jazz and Hip hop and I'm an active songwriter!

I'm a professional Cellist and Session Player, with over 15 years teaching experience. I believe first and foremost that Music should bring joy to a student's life and at the end of the day be able to provide them with a sense of well being and happiness that they can take further into their life and out into the world. I typically start using the Suzuki Method for beginners and try to incorporate easy versions of songs (Popular, rock, anything) that the student both enjoys listening to and would like to play.

Learning from Isaiah was a wonderful experience. He makes lessons fun and educational, all the while promoting the importance of good form and proper technique. Highly recommended.

Working with Isaiah was a great experience. As a student interested in different methods and styles of playing, he listened to me and was flexible in providing both a pedagogy of classical and nontraditional modes of playing. He's flexible even in scheduling, willing to schedule an emergency lesson online when I had issues before a performance.

Isaiah Gage is a wonderful, inspiring teacher!  My son has been studying with him since last year and has developed splendidly as a cellist.  In his sessions, Mr. Gage encourages creativity and is very supportive of students' musical pursuits. It is a great experience for my son to have this opportunity to learn from a working professional who travels the globe to perform.

Isaiah was a perfect instructor for my son, age 8-10 at the time. My son was not the most enthusiastic player, but Isaiah was able to motivate him with interesting aspects of the cello and lots of encouragement, while at the same time working on fundamentals. His playing improved dramatically over the time Isaiah worked with him. We would have gladly continued with Isaiah except we both moved away. I recommend him without reservation - he is excellent with children.
