Upright Bass with Isaac P.

My name is Isaac Present. I am a freelance bassist, and a student in the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, with a major in double bass performance. I started playing music at a young age and developed a passion for classical music in particular. Since then I have diversified my interests to span across jazz, pop, and rock music on both upright and electric bass. I am a current student of Kurt Muroki in the Jacobs School of Music, and an alumni of UNC School of the Arts, where I studied under Paul Sharpe. I have nearly ten years of experience on the bass, and three years of experience working as a freelancer, which has led me to a variety of stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Throughout this time, I performed in many different ensembles ranging from big band jazz to chamber ensembles, but I have dedicated the largest portions of my career to solo bass performance and orchestral studies. My lesson plans are geared towards giving you the instruction that you want. If you would like to continue your work in a book that you have already started, try a new book or piece, or don’t want to work from a book at all, I am hoppy to accommodate and help you improve! I am very flexible with all of my students, and I will encourage you to work hard at improving your technique and proficiency on the bass. All of my lesson times and are meant to provide you with convenience and reliability, and are easily rearranged upon request. For the remainder of the summer my schedule is very open, however, some lesson times may need to be moved in August to account for my class schedule. I am looking forward to the possibility of working with you!
