He has studies with the famous Professor Victor Makarov who has studies with Regina Horowitz – sister of Vladimir Horowitz. Illya's vision: “I treat all my students as unique individual and always try to find a flexible methods that can bring out the best from every piano player. In my lessons I always try to find each student's weaker areas and focus on those towards achieving a balanced progress.” Over the years Illya has developed a unique teaching method that focuses on balanced development of 3 key areas of piano playing – Mind, Technique and Heart. Mind – development of sight reading, consistency and speed of focus, concentration and memory. Technique – development of hands and fingers strength, endurance and agility. Illya has developed numerous unique piano exercises that help students achieve better progress in developing sound piano technique. Heart – focusing on associative imagination and constant emotional engagement while playing the piano. Every single note of every masterpiece has a meaning and it is the responsibility of every performer to make sure that every note “speaks” to the listener. Music is an unspoken language of subtle emotions – it can convey feelings and states that no other means of communication can. Illya is offering lessons to students all around the world in the comfort of their homes. Since the start of Covid pandemic all piano students had to switch to online lessons only. Learning online has proven to be as effective as “in class” lessons with all students having great progress and achieving high marks in online exams.
