Guitar lessons in all styles- Blues, Bluegrass, Classical, Rock, Jazz and everything else under the sun. #1 concern is helping YOU play the way you want to- whether that is shred Metal, accompanying your voice with chords, or playing solo Classical guitar, I want you to leave these lessons ready to explore your own musical world. Currently a graduate student at the University of Georgia, I have a deep background in music theory and classical guitar technique, but growing up I primarily played Bluegrass and Blues music, and continue to do so. Because of these broad influences, I try to include fun and helpful elements of each style to give my students a deeper understanding of the instrument.

About Ian H.

I am a currently a graduate student at the University of Georgia's Hugh Hodgson School of Music pursuing my Masters in Music Performance on the Classical Guitar. I hold a Bachelors in Music Performance from the University of Georgia, studying with Dr. Daniel Bolshoy. Though I primarily study and perform on Classical guitar, my background in music is quite broad, allowing me to accommodate the interests of any student. Growing up in Western North Carolina I was exposed to Old Time and Bluegrass music at a young age, learning rags and fiddle tunes by ear. As I grew older I began playing electric guitar, diving deep into Jazz harmony and theory, as well as the virtuosic work of Jimi Hendrix. With time I also began to develop an appreciation, that would turn into a deep love for the Classical guitar. Because of my wide range of styles I have performed in a wide range of venues- from 12th century Italian churches, to the roof of the Georgia Theatre. By combining elements of various styles with a strong foundation in Classical technique, I firmly believe my students and I explore the guitar to its fullest extent, regardless of what their personal style of choice may be. That said, I pride my self on my adaptability to each student, and possess a wide set of tools to help you play your best week to week.
