If you enjoy singing and would like to learn how to sing better, I would like to help you become the singer and performing artist that you have always wanted to be.
I am a classically trained soprano with more than two decades of experience teaching voice. Classic singing technique and performing skills are at the heart of what I teach. I studied Voice Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music with the renown Mezzo-Soprano, Marie Simmelink Kraft. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Case Western Reserve University where I studied Art and Music Theory and sang in the University Choir and in Theater Productions. My experience includes singing with a professional Chorale that performed with the Cleveland Symphony and performing as a soloist with choirs in Ohio and Michigan. As the Founder and Directed of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Birmingham MI, and Managing Director of the Actors Alliance Theater, a professional theater company, I developed programs in acting and improvisation that prepared students for professional careers.
I teach classic singing technique that provides a foundation for singing any style of music from Baroque to Broadway Musical Theater style. Every lesson starts with a warm-up and exercises to develop your ability to take deep easy natural breaths and use your diaphragm to provide support your voice. You will become more aware of how you use your entire body as an instrument when you sing, letting it resonate naturally through the entire range of your voice to make a beautiful sound. You will build a repertoire of music that you like, the ability to use good technique to sing with expression, making a connection that touches the hearts of those who listen with a memorable performance.
Helen B taught me for the past year and a half. She was not only a very good teacher but also very patient. She used different methods if I did not understand the first way. I learned various tricks that would make sure I enunciated properly and could sing louder without using too much breath. She always encouraged me if I felt like I did not do as well as I wanted to do, and gave me various exercises to do and videos to see when I get home to practice. By using these techniques, I was always sure that I had learned something every lesson. Overall, I highly recommend anyone who wants to learn how to sing that Helen B is the one who you are looking for.+ Read More

I could play the piano but never had any singing lessons. With Helen, I learned how to sing all kinds of music from classical to Broadway. I learned how to sing "I'll be Back," from Hamilton and was able to play the accompaniment and sing in a talent show at my school. I had a very small voice when I started, but now I can sing very confidently in front of an audience. I liked working with Helen. She is a good teacher.+ Read More
I was in the habit of speaking too fast so that others had a hard time understanding what I was saying. Helen Bacher helped me learn how to speak clearly and pause for emphasis which was very helpful. It is easier for me to speak now in class.
