I am a classically trained soprano who has been teaching voice for students of all ages for more than two decades. Classic voice technique and performing skills are at the heart of what I teach. I studied Voice Voice Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music with the renown Mezzo-Soprano, Marie Simmelink Kraft. I hold a degree in Art and Music from Case Western Reserve University where I studied Music Theory and sang in University Theater Productions. My professional experience includes singing in a professional Chorale that performed with the Cleveland Symphony and performing as a soloist with choirs in Ohio and Michigan. As the founder and director of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Birmingham and The Actors Alliance Theatre, a professional Equity company, I directed the performing arts programs and became known for my patience and my ability to bring out the best in students. I use positive teaching methods that help you develop self-confidence and good singing technique. Every lesson includes a warm-up and exercises that help you develop the breath control you need to support your voice and sing on pitch. A progressive series of vocal exercises help you learn how to place your voice so you can make a beautiful sound. Vocal exercises that develop the timbre and quality of your voice are also introduced. As your singing technique improves you will develop a repertoire of music that you like to sing. My passion is helping you learn how to enjoy singing using good technique and develop as an artist with the ability to sing expressively and connect with the audience as you perform.
If you enjoy singing and would like to learn how to sing better, it's never too late to start. I would like to work with you and help you become the singer and artist that you have always wanted to be.
Helen B taught me for the past year and a half. She was not only a very good teacher but also very patient. She used different methods if I did not understand the first way. I learned various tricks that would make sure I enunciated properly and could sing louder without using too much breath. She always encouraged me if I felt like I did not do as well as I wanted to do, and gave me various exercises to do and videos to see when I get home to practice. By using these techniques, I was always sure that I had learned something every lesson. Overall, I highly recommend anyone who wants to learn how to sing that Helen B is the one who you are looking for.+ Read More

I could play the piano but never had any singing lessons. With Helen, I learned how to sing all kinds of music from classical to Broadway. I learned how to sing "I'll be Back," from Hamilton and was able to play the accompaniment and sing in a talent show at my school. I had a very small voice when I started, but now I can sing very confidently in front of an audience. I liked working with Helen. She is a good teacher.+ Read More
I was in the habit of speaking too fast so that others had a hard time understanding what I was saying. Helen Bacher helped me learn how to speak clearly and pause for emphasis which was very helpful. It is easier for me to speak now in class.
