Hi! My name is Heather and I am looking forward to working with you! I have taught lessons since 2008 and have loved helping my students learn and have fun. I went to the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and University of North Carolina at Greensboro and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. I'm a caring, dedicated person and my teaching style is kind and methodical. I am excited about helping you achieve your goals!
I teach private piano, song-writing, and singing lessons in popular, folk, and classical styles.
I held two roles in an opera scenes program at UNC at Greensboro Opera Theatre
I helped children and adults develop their singing, ear-training, and music theory skills in a private lesson setting.
I developed lesson plans and taught music theory and ear training to children ages 8-13 in a weekly class setting. The class utilized folk songs, movement, and written music.
I taught intermediate and beginning piano and voice in private lessons for homeschool enrichment center for children ages 5-18.
I sang a chorus role for Lyric Opera of Virginia's production of "La Traviata".
I performed several different programs of pop music in a quartet which included costumes and choreography. We did 60s music, Broadway tunes, a Dickens Christmas program, and more!
I sang with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra as a Virginia Symphony Chorus core soprano position for two full seasons which included multiple performances per season.
I sang in the opera chorus for several seasons of Todifest Opera's summer productions.
