As a Senior in the Commercial Music Program at Brigham Young University, I created the Commercial Music Expo. Two days of workshops in subjects like Songwriting, Recording, Production and Entrepreneurship as well as performances by Commercial Music graduates and professors. I now continue this summer camp as a graduate.+ Read More
I have taught private lessons in subjects of voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, performance and theory. I love everything about teaching, especially connecting with my students! I have also taught voice and songwriting workshops for other voice studios and summer camps.
The Songwriting courses at BYU teach students to write for the present day publishing industry with tools found in theory, form, content and style. A large end of the semester project was organizing, promoting and executing a Songwriter Showcase, featuring the top twenty songs written during the semester.+ Read More
I started recording two years after I began writing. I have spent 100+ hours in studios in California, Colorado and Utah. I have recorded my own music as well as worked on projects for other writers and producers. You can hear me on the 2012 EFY CD here.
My first song was called "Apricots and Blueberry Jam." Odd title, decent song and the start of my love affair with songwriting. Since that fateful day, I have written over 300 songs and have learned the art and craft of writing music!
As a student at BYU I have been surrounded by a plethora of talented individuals. It has been painful to see so many of them hungry for opportunity but simply not knowing where to look. In 2012 I was the Vice President of an on campus club called Footlights that worked to help musicians. But the reality was that in order to have successful musicians we needed to be collaborating with people in business, film, graphic design etc. So I approached the club presidency and suggested a complete makeover. I wanted a creative space for anyone who was interested in music and wanted to work within the industry. And Ta-da! "The Music Business Club" was born.+ Read More
Broadcast Music Inc. was founded in 1939 by forward-thinkers who wanted to represent songwriters in emerging genres, like jazz, blues and country, and protect the public performances of their music. Operating on a non-profit-making basis, BMI is now the largest music rights organization in the U.S. and is still nurturing new talent and new music.+ Read More
She is great at explaining things in new ways. She has helped me get on a schedule for practicing voice and has given me a playlist with many different and useful voice exercises.
My voice has significantly improved after lessons with Hannah. My tone and pitch have also improved dramatically. If you are interested in writing songs, Hannah is also a great teacher for that. I have written many songs since taking lessons from her. You don't even have to leave your home because Hannah can teach skype lessons. Many people don't like Skype lessons because they seem impersonal. I recommend trying a free lesson. You will see that Hannah makes it seem like she's there in person. I live in the country so this has been very convenient. I love her teaching style. She has empowered me to create many beautiful songs. She is very well qualified and knows what she's talking about.+ Read More
To say Hannah is a great voice teacher would be an understatement. She is. But she has also helped me with a lot more than that. I started lessons with her about 4 months ago and I have made great improvements since then. I have been singing for about 13 years and taken from several other teachers as well. Those who know me consider me a great singer, but she has still found ways to help me improve.
In more recent years, I haven't been in voice lessons, and during that time I have developed some bad habits (some of which was brought on through some vocal trauma). Hannah has and is continuing to help me overcome those bad habits, leading to not only healthier singing, but better sounding singing as well.
I've always had an interest in doing more with my music such as writing, recording, and performing. She has helped me in these areas as well by teaching me not only how to get started writing music, but also on how to improvise music and be an all around better musician.
I would recommend Hannah to just about anyone. It doesn't matter if you're brand new, or been singing a long time. She's fun, honest, easy to get along with, and most importantly her methods work.
My children have made great progress with singing and songwriting under Hannah's instruction. She is flexible, knowledgeable, personable and knows her stuff.
Hannah's awesome! I contacted her mainly for songwriting feedback but also for guidance while applying and auditioning for BYU's commercial music program. She always went above and beyond in assisting me from songwriting, to voice lessons, to guidance with production and recording and navigating the local music scene. Hannah knows what she is talking about in both vocal and music techniques, as well as the business side of music. And even more important, she truly loves what she does and has a natural ability for teaching in a way that will help you grow immensely! If you are even slightly on the fence about taking lessons from her, don't be--you won't be disappointed!+ Read More
I took lessons from Hannah's for a few months, and I loved it! She helped me prepare for my audition and put together my portfolio of original songs. I learned so much about songwriting and she helped me prepare for my songs so well. It was a great experience!
I highly recommend Hannah for vocal lessons or songwriting lessons. She's great!
Great lesson, experienced teacher.
Love her style and how flexible she is with my schedule.
Hannah was a great teacher! She listened and gave great feedback without being intimidating. She not only taught me a lot about my voice but gave me great tips on my performance and led me to a lot of great resources for singing and performing. I feel much better prepared for auditions.+ Read More
