Brad is among the best voice coaches today. Using techniques honed through his extensive experience along with his trained ear, he helped me get back what I thought was lost forever. He's not just a great coach, but one who knows what is good therapy for the voice. Brutally honest, Brad doesn't sugar-coat ... he is helping you as the performer be the absolute best, and being honest is what we all need when training. Brad delivers results as long as you put in the work. He also helps you to learn the difference between singing and yelling ... there's a difference! I could not be more blessed to have reconnected with Brad. He is a master of his craft!

About Janet
I am outgoing, encouraging, friendly, and have a good sense of humor. Music is a passion, and teaching is my vocation. I have been on the music faculty of Colorado State University, University of Puget Sound, and Duke University, and I was the contracted keyboardist with the Southwest Symphony Orchestra for many years. These professional teaching experiences have taught me much about teaching and the needs of students, and all this I bring to your lesson. My musical interests are not strictly classical. I adore jazz and pop and was even the lobby pianist for the Westin Hotels. I am here to help you with whatever style music you love.

*** Lesson Details ***
General Information about lessons—
• In-studio lessons on grand piano and/or harpsichord
• Ages 4 and to 99 years of age (and older!!)
• Levels beginner and advanced

• Classical, Pop, Broadway, and Standards

I offer lessons always with a smile, encouragement, and plenty of positive feedback. I have many years of experience teaching piano and music theory, and I promise that your lessons will be enjoyable and rewarding. Learning music must be built upon a strong relationship between teacher and student, and this is relationship involves good communication, honesty, open mindedness, and a recognition that all students are different and at various skill levels. These are my guiding principles. Although I am a classically trained pianist, I have experience as keyboardist with an eclectic trio playing anything and everything from pop to jazz, and as the lobby pianist with the Westin Hotels. I approach teaching by first knowing and understanding the student's musical goals, and teaching fundamentals, theory, and technique through the style of music that the student wants to learn. The Alfred Piano Methods—used by many universities—is my preferred instructional books for the beginner and intermediate student, but I am also quick to supplement with additional FUN material tailored to the student’s interests whenever possible. Learning music will promote confidence in your abilities and satisfaction in your accomplishments!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room w/ grand piano, harpsichord, and seating for parents

*** Specialties ***
I enjoy teaching students of all ages and have had success with students as young as 4 as well as 65 years of age. Particularly satisfying is helping adults reach life-long goals of learning music. I excel in teaching the classical repertory, but I have a passion for popular music and other types as well.

As an active artist and graduate of Los Angeles College of Music, I believe that teaching is much more than a student learning to play their instrument. It's about creating a fun environment where students not only get a solid musical foundation but are also encouraged to express themselves creatively. I only take on a limited amount of students so that my attention is fully focused on each lesson.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: ** Because my private lessons are sporadically scheduled between other teaching, and I have found students over age 12 to need in depth lessons, the minimum time for them per session is ONE HOUR. ******

Due to my maternal grandfather's career as a Chicago vaudeville orchestra leader, from early childhood, the performing arts have been in my blood. Starting to study classical flute at age 12, then playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and taking professional jazz/classical flute workshops/master classes, I've been teaching and playing all styles of flute music professionally since my 20's.

Vocal study began at age 15 with some great artists/educators in SF, Seattle, and Europe, including Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy, Broadway singer Adrian West, David Tigner- SF Opera, Davida Kagan-Seattle Opera, and Rol
and Wyatt-
Manhattan Transfer coach /NY Academy of Dramatic Arts. Through many years of teaching experience, I've developed a very successful, uniquely simple 8 part method to help cross cultural individuals/groups of all ages , styles, and levels, sing optimally from their hearts. The necessary basic vocal techniques can be taught effectively in 4 to 8 lessons, though the learning process takes longer and can continue throughout one's lifetime.

With a BA in Theater Arts from SFSU, and over 50 years directing, acting, and musical experience, including the last 15 years also working successfully as an ESL educator, I have gained the confidence to help almost any student achieve their personal and/or professional goals.

Incredibly knowledgeable in physical techniques required for guitar; He is a master of all the subjective hands-on knowledge you can't learn from a video or a book, like individual hand/wrist placement, strength building, muscle memory, string bending. His curriculum is excellent for developing the raw ability to play as desired.

We initially did lessons in person then transitioned to Skype once I moved away. I found no difference between in-person or Skype.

Before I became a student under my teacher, I thought that my previous teacher was good. However, looking back, my first teacher (Not Robert Grant), was horrible. The one distinct difference between many of the casual guitar teachers and Robert is that he has a great curriculum for teaching kids and adults the proper techniques, different styles, and practices for playing the guitar. I remember on the first lesson, he immediately commented my wrong form for my picking hand. Since then he has assisted me in correcting bad technique, pursuing my strengths and passions, and expanding my knowledge in music theory, both specific for guitar and for music in general. His curriculum is equal if not better than many college courses for music(classical, jazz, etc. courses). I have been with him for 3-4 years now and I find myself greatly improved from when I first started. I would recommend going to Robert if you want to seriously learn how to play the guitar with a brilliantly structured course.

I've been playing guitar for 28 years and Robert has done more to advance my playing in the last 5 months than anything else I've done over that time. Whether online or in person, Robert has a great mix of laid back attitude with a task-master's approach; he encourages his students to have fun with the guitar, but to take it and their work with it seriously. In a really short time, I've picked up a wealth of music theory and my technique has improved dramatically. Most importantly, I'm having more fun playing than I have in years. I can't recommend Robert highly enough.

Anyone can sound great on a piano! Let me show you how.

I am a gentle and patient teacher. My students like me.
I have experience with _all_ ages, including little children, older children, pre-teens, teens, young adults, and older.

When I started teaching, I assumed that many beginners -- especially children -- would prefer to learn music by-ear. Based on my own personal experience as a child learning piano, I found that to be the easiest, most-intuitive, and rewarding way to develop musically.

However, in my more recent experience as a _teacher_, I appreciate how every student is unique and will learn best in different ways, using different approaches and methods. Some of the children I have taught, for example, demonstrated a propensity and affinity for visual pattern recognition. Some children seem to be more engaged when t
hey have something to read. It holds their attention. Also, after the lesson is over, my student would have something to reference throughout the week to remember what notes to play.

I have taught a variety of adults, teens, and children over the past two years. I have a B.M. degree in Music and Technology. Myself, I have played piano (and other keyboard instruments) for over 20 years.

One approach I can take with adult students is to help them achieve a musical sophistication and richness without complexity and great difficulty. Being able to create music that is enjoyable to listen to isn't as hard as some might assume. Please contact me to show you how.

I teach a variety of music -- "Classical" (formal European compositions), Rock/Pop, Modal/Impressionistic (which might strike some listeners as Jazz-influenced Jazz-flavoured) music.
I been working on writing many transcriptions of my favourite songs/compositions. I'd love to share these with you and teach you how to play some of that music!
I'll teach you your favorite songs, that _you_ like best. I've done exactly that for several of my students.

I am a friendly, outgoing, and passionate music teacher! I play the harp and piano and absolutely love to spread the joy of music. I started playing the harp because my grandmother was a harpist and I thought it was the most beautiful instrument. After all these years, I still love the amazing sound of the harp. I completed my degree in Harp Performance from University of Denver's Lamont School of Music where I received a well-rounded education in both performance and academics (including theory, history, and technology). I am a beginner harp student at the age of 64, and also a Professor with fairly high expectations. I wasn't sure what to expect from a young teacher like Becca. Within minutes I could tell she is a natural at teaching the harp. What impressed me the most was that she understands every person learns differently. She is sensitive and thus listens to the student's comments and intuitively knows how to respond in the best way. She also has a lot of patience - being a perfectionist I wanted to repeat over and over certain movements and Becca was right there with me, giving me fresh guidance along the way. I learned so much with her and will always remember our lessons with gratitude.

Erskine of Key Element is a very skilled, professional, and friendly music teacher. He provided lessons for both my young daughter and myself. As a beginner to music, he was very patient with my daughter. Me, being a piano player by ear, Erskine provided me with exercises, tools, and even recommended an app to help with learning music theory and reading scales.
