Hi, there! My name is Hani Zahra and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2008 and have loved helping my students master the basics, learn the fundamentals of performance and theory, and eventually compose their own music. I earned a Music degree from Arizona State University in 2009 and have been performing and teaching ever since, first in Nashville, TN and now in NYC. I'm a laid-back, patient and enthusiastic person and my teaching style is collaborative, supportive and fun! I look forward to helping you reach your music goals!

With the options in the Brooklyn/NYC area, I feel lucky to have found Hani. He is a passionate, patient teacher and has made playing the guitar a fun, less frightening experience for me. I’ve taken lessons with various teachers throughout the city, but feel Hani has been the only teacher to advance my guitar skills in such a short time. Since the first lesson, he was really interested in the types of music that appealed to me and made it his goal to design lessons around my preferences in music. He encouraged me to challenge myself with song choices and techniques, because it was music that would get me practicing and would allow me to have fun learning. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a talented musician and true professional to work with :)

After falling into a songwriting rut I decided to enlist the help of Hani. His instruction has been instrumental (pun intended!!!) and I'm seeing a noticeable difference in my writing. He helped my analyze my favorite bands, breaking down my favorite songs and showing me why certain progressions and structures work. He understands the theory behind the music and is able to present it to those who don't (AKA me) clearly and concisely.
