Learn how to play Bass guitar from an active musician/producer

With a degree in Music Production and Engineering from Berklee College of Music, 6 years of performing with a nationally touring funk-pop act, and countless recordings totaling over 6 million streams, Gustaf brings a unique twist to learning how to play bass. His specialty is to help you hone in on all the small improvements you could make to sound sound superior; such as upgrading your sense of time, and dialing in your tone (hint: your tone starts in your hands). And with a song based approach, you will absorb music theory and songwriting skills by osmosis as you're learning how to play the bass. Curriculum is customized for each student. You may choose to work with any genre, whether you're interested in progressive metal, soul, samba, funk, or anything else

    About Gustaf C.

I’m a professional bassist for a well known nationally touring band, music producer, and songwriter. I graduated from Berklee college of music with a Bachelors degree in Music Production & Engineering. I can teach a broad range of styles ranging from samba to funk to progressive metal or anything else you can dream up. After studying with some of the top bass players in the world, including Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey and Felix Pastorius I’ve been able to soak up their teaching styles and find a way to meet musicians at their skill levels and have fun. Music is a language. Beginners at a language should be able to converse with those that are fluent, and they will soak it up over time. As a bassist in a well known nationally touring band, I’ve been able to acquire real world performance experience. When you take lessons to me, we’ll take time to focus on the aspects of bass performance that matter the most when performing with an ensemble. We can also explore other areas of expertise if you’re interested. My experience as a music producer has helped me develop a deep understanding of the functions of instruments in a rhythm section. All students will learn about the fundamentals of their instrument, and how to manipulate your sound in order to fit into a wide variety of contexts. I enjoy teaching bass to all levels of musicians. For those that are just starting out, my focus is to inspire students to want to continue, and show them that music is a fun skill that anyone can learn. And for students with a little bit more experience, my goal is to get them to keep on developing at whatever pace is comfortable to them and to focus on the music and techniques they show interest in. I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a better musician!
