Piano and cello have been quintessential in my life for the past 40 years. I have been fortunate to share my passion and love of these two instruments with young musicians in the past 30 years, to develop their own interests and skills in music. Music Background Born from a musician’s family in Beijing, China, Grace started music lessons at the age of 5. She has enjoyed the process of learning, performing and teaching piano and cello. After graduating from the China Conservatory of Music, Grace happily joined the world-renowned Beijing Symphony Orchestra. In 1988, she showcased in two solo concertos with the Australian Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. As an established young musician, she moved to the United States in 1989. Since then, she has worked as a free-lance musician and taught master classes at the Kingwood Music School in the greater Houston area. Grace also served as an adjudicator for the Texas Solo and Ensemble Festival up until 1995. From 1995 through 2002, she has been a cello and piano instructor at the Washington Academy of Performing Arts. In 1998, Grace established her own music studio. Her students include local piano and cello festival winners from such events as the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival, Northwest Chopin Festival, and Washington State Solo and Ensemble. In her free time, Grace is an avid outdoor enthusiast; she spends weekends hiking, skiing and exploring all that the beautiful Pacific Northwest has to offer. Despite various interests, Grace’s passion for music supersedes all else; she was born into a musical family and instills daily in her students, a zealous love for music. Create a simple melody, then repeat it in a different keys, add left hand accompaniment if possible. 2, More hands training. Use the same tone the student created previous week, I will help them to develop into a little music piece. Identify keys and fingering. 3, Developing finger power. Hands play together at diffirent timing. By the end of 3rd week, students are expected play a short piece musically. After 3 months power finger training and fun creative musical activities, all new students from my studio should be able to play at least 2 contracted pieces on their first group class or even recital. • Accepts eager music enthusiasts 5 years and older • Offers one-on-one classical piano/cello instruction • 30 minuets weekly lessons / theory • Professional and recreational repertoires are available • Suzuki and traditional methods • Students are offered performance, adjudication/competition opportunities .
