I currently serve as adjunct harp professor at the University of Mary Washington and perform with a nationally touring wind ensemble. I have extensive experience as an instructor, soloist and ensemble player, and have taught private students for over 15 years.
Teaching music is incredibly fulfilling, and I enjoy building a rapport with my students. I have taught a variety of students of all levels, from beginners to university harp majors, and ages five to seventy years young.
My teaching experience at the high school and university level in harp, class piano, music theory and music history, includes positions at James Madison University, Washington and Lee University, and the Academy of Music, among others. My students have performed with the American Youth Harp Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the White House.
As a performer, I have been a featured soloist in performances of the Ginastera Harp Concerto, Handel Concerto in Bb, and the Ravel Introduction and Allegro at the Chautauqua Music Festival. I have performed as principal harpist with numerous orchestras in Indiana and Virginia and currently perform for virtual and in-person audiences as a touring wind ensemble member.
My first harp lessons began at the age of nine under Elizabeth Richter, with whom I continued my undergraduate studies and eventually my Doctor of Arts in Music Performance. Other teachers have included Judy Loman at the University of Toronto, Lucile Lawrence at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Adelheid Blovsky-Miller at the University of Vienna.
