    About Frankie A.

Hello students and parents, My name is Frankie and I currently tour, write and record with "The Stick People" who are signed to Bungalo / Universal Music Group. I was also just featured in "Modern Drummer Magazine." I've toured and recorded with a number of independent and major label bands ranging from rock to country. In the past few years I have run a small independent label ( Jamco Records ) selling 10,000 units through Unisound Records in Greece and a few thousand more units abroad in Europe. I've also worked along side some of the biggest producer’s in past years (Dito Godwin - No Doubt) (Jim Wirt - Live, Incubis, System of a Down) (Kevin Beamish - MSG,Jefferson Starship) and (Jimbo Barton - Rush, Queensryche and Kiss.) One of my recent accolades was receiving the L.A. Music Awards “Outstanding Drumming on a Recorded Performance” . What does this mean for the student... I not only have studied at the university level, but have REAL world experience and can bring that knowledge to my students. You can only learn so much out of a book!! I love to teach and realize every student has his/her needs and learn at their own pace. Music should be fun and open the mind to help in other subjects also, math, science, history etc. Some of my education includes: 1985 Westminster College, 1st chair in Classical Percussion, studied with DR. Alfred Reed of Florida State University. 1990-1991 L.A. City College, Recording Engineering Practices 1993-1994 El Camino College, toured with jazz and symphonic band, studied music theory, classical piano and classical percussion. Harbor City College, Percussion Ensemble 1998 Loyola Marymount University, Record Business Practices 2001 U.C.L.A. Extension, Publicity in The Music Business 2002 University of Phoenix, Business Management 2003 U.C.L.A. Extension, Record Marketing, Sales and Distribution U.C.L.A. Extension, Recording Engineering Theory Sharing my skills to make others happy is what gives me joy, and drum lessons should be fun, yet challenging. Thank you so much for stopping by my page and hope to teach you soon! All the best, -Frankie *** Lesson Details *** I sit down at our first lesson to see where each student is as far as level and experience. Then I'll make a custom lesson plan for what you want to study and goals you want to achieve. I want to help you reach your goals, make you succeed as a musician and make you the best drummer you can be. I will teach you anything you want to learn, but at the same time, we will follow a lesson plan to make sure you are progressing and learning the right techniques and not picking up any bad habits! For example: we will work on a fun song/groove-- then we will work on reading and/or rudiments. I teach using a combination of modern, traditional and personal books noted below: "Teaching Rhythm" - Joel Rothman "Basic Drumming" - Joel Rothman "Master Studies" - Joe Morello "Studio & Big Band Drumming"- Steve Houghton "The Rock-n-Roll Bible of Co-ordination"- Joel Rothman "Double -Bass Drumming" - Joe Franco "Funk Drumming" - Jim Payne "The New Breed" - Gary Chester Plus their are techniques and rhythms I write out myself for the student. “When the student combines my techniques, strong practice, concentration and performance regimen, they are bound to improve and get better as a musician" - Frankie Anthony *** Studio Equipment *** Pearl and Premier acoustic sets. Yamaha electronic set. Sabien and Paiste Cymbals. *** Travel Equipment *** Student needs to have practice pad or drum set or whatever instrument they want to learn. *** Specialties *** Heavy on Rudiments and stick control. I use the George Lawrence Stone and Joe Morrello stick control. Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz etc.
