About Carol
I have taught voice for over twenty years. I studied music at University of California, Santa Barbara, where I received my B.A. I currently work as a professional singer for various local opera companies, music theater groups, churches and temples. I am principal soprano for Opera A La Carte and have also soloed with Repertory Opera Company, Redlands Bowl Festival, Laguna Beach Chorale and Celestial Opera Company. I have worked extensively in Los Angeles schools performing musical assemblies for students in elementary and middle grades through Southland Opera, LA Opera and Guild Opera of Southern California. My teaching experience includes private voice lessons and master classes at Idyllwild School for the Arts.

*** Lesson Details ***
I emphasize breathing techniques to free up the voice to expand your range and ease of singing. In
the lesson, we start with simple warm ups and vocalizes and then apply techniques to the songs you want to sing. I realize each student is different and I customize the lesson to the student's particular needs. I specialize in classical and music theater, however the basics of singing apply to all styles of music. In addition to working on breathing and technique for singing, we'll also focus on interpretation of the songs you are working on as well as how to overcome performance nervousness. Most students find that they are able to sing with more freedom, less tension and will have more confidence as they progress.

I also teach beginning piano, using the John W. Schaum series.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the main room, upright piano

*** Travel Equipment ***
They need to provide a piano or keyboard if I am going to their home.
I have a piano in my home.

*** Specialties ***
I work on using the breath as a fundamental technique for singing. Singing should never hurt. I use a lot of imagery to achieve freedom in singing.

With a degree in Voice studies from the Los Angeles College of Music, and 15 years of coaching, I am able to give my students the understanding of the voice as an instrument and the importance of practicing to acquire the skills that are required to maintain longevity as a singer.

During the lesson the student will also learn to interpret and perform songs in any style they choose to work on.

*** Travel Equipment ***
i can provide the keyboard when giving singing lessons.

*** Specialties ***
The method that I use is called "Freedom of natural voice production". It's a method that teaches the student to get rid of all the tension, bad habits, beliefs that stand in the way of the tone. This freedom allows the tone to come freely from our diaphragm, through the cords up to the head. In this method we use the air as a second eleme
nt, that vibrates the vocal cords and resonates them in the head.

I have taught Jazz, Latin, R&B styles.

Hello! My name is Justin L and I've been drumming for 16 years. I've played in several bands as both a session and live drummer. As a live drummer, I have played a number of notable gigs -- I had a 3 month residency at the Anaheim House of Blues where my band, The Dealers, played rock n' roll and blues every Friday night. I've opened for Led Zepagain, Wild Child, Gary Hoey, Filter, and Queen Nation, to name a few shows. I've also played a few original shows at the Orange County Fair. Currently, I'm recording an EP/LP for Rainy Day Fund.

I have my master's in psychology and have worked as a teaching assistant at California State University, Fullerton for the past 3 years. I'm also an ABA therapist -- I work 1:1 with kids diagnosed with developmental disabilities. Given my teaching experience as a graduate student and ABA therapis

Charissa is an amazing one on one teacher. She goes at your own pace and makes sure you really know what's going on. I'm a slow learner so I love that I can ask her as many questions as I want and when I want! Not to mention, she is one of the coolest down to earth people I've ever met!

Such a great teacher, and you can be sure that she knows her stuff. But what I appreciated the most was the fact that she always made sure that I understood the lesson before we moved on to the next. Teachers this great, that truly care about helping their students reach their dreams, are hard to come by these days!

I attempt to establish what an individual’s interests in guitar are as well as to develop their understanding of musical fundamentals. I have several books that I use as examples and I write individual exercises for more specific issues to an individual’s unique style.

Learning guitar should be fun, accessible, and emphasizing the positive aspects of it to ensure a pleasant and fun experience for all involved. There is no better way to increase this process than regular lessons and practice.

Lena就是这样的老师也!❤
我积极推荐。

I purchased a gift certificate to gift piano lessons for my father. He had his first lesson with Lena today and asked that I write the review for him since he does not use the internet very much.

He said:
I really enjoyed my lesson with Lena today. She is a really patient, kind, and caring piano teacher. Her teaching style was very clear and easy to understand even though I do not have any past experience in music or playing instruments. She helped me learn the basic keys. I look forward to taking more lessons with her. I have already signed up for 4 additional lessons.
Thanks,
Matthew

About Tuesday
I am a pianist and teacher from Southern California who received a Bachelor's Degree in music with a concentration in piano performance in the year 2013. I am receiving my Master's degree in piano performance in the fall of 2017 from California State University Long Beach. I have finished my graduate recital, which is a requirement for all graduate students who desire to pursue music and complete their degree. The majority of repertoire that I studied in college consists of works by composers J.S. Bach, Frederic Chopin, L.V. Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Ravel, W.A. Mozart, and other renowned classical composers. I also have experience performing popular music, and music from broadway musicals.

I have been teaching for five years and have found that the most important component of learning music and performing with success is the disciplin
e of steady practice. Every student is required to practice on a regular basis, and young students will receive a small reward each week if their skills improve through steady practice. Young students who work diligently will also be entered into an occasional raffle for various prizes. Through steady practice and a desire to learn, I will teach you the foundations of music: rhythm, note-reading, technique, music theory, ear training, artistry, and interpretation. Artistry and interpretation are less understood, but both extend beyond learning the notes on the page, by using technique to express unique, emotional, and beautiful sounds through the piano.

I teach classical and popular music, and will assist you in learning to sing and play at the piano if you already enjoy singing. When teaching beginners, I use a curriculum that fits the need of the student. The studies that I favor to use for beginners include (but are not limited to) Bastien, Alfred, Faber, and Snell. For intermediate and advanced students, I allow students to pick some of their repertoire, and also focus their attention toward classical music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary periods of music. Learning classical music will not only broaden the student's knowledge of music and history, but it will additionally set a foundation for a student who desires to study music at a university.

I am a guitarist, composer, performer and producer. I graduated from California State University Northridge with a degree in jazz guitar performance.

Although my degree is in jazz i have gone through many styles on my musical journey. I have played in rock and pop bands as well as classical guitar quartets and many other conventional and unconventional ensembles. Even though as of late I have been playing less and teaching more I still gig on a regular basis all around LA.

My first passion was classic rock and blues, but have since branched out. Along with guitar I also play and teach ukulele, drums, bass, piano, banjo, and mandolin in all different styles including bluegrass and country to name a few.

I have also recently gained an interest in electronic music and have been producing electronic music for myself and others. I believe t
hat all forms of music are valid and that what matters most is being able to express yourself in the way that you want to.
