I am a professional singer, specializing in opera, musical theater, chamber and choral music! Although my personal focus is classical music, my teaching is not limited to one genre and I have worked extensively with students in contemporary styles. My singing career keeps me traveling a lot, so I teach lessons online so that I can be sure to be available to my students consistently! Recent performances have included my solo debut with the Boston Pops in the symphonic premiere of the show "Sondheim on Sondheim," as well as a performance of David Lang's "just" at the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music that was hailed "a beautiful performance" by the New York Times. I sing with several ensembles, including GRAMMY-Award winning Conspirare (Austin, TX), the Vocal Arts Ensemble (Cincinnati, OH), and Coro Volante, an ensemble dedicated to recording and performing the works of living composers. Coro Volante's debut recording is due out later this year on the Ablaze record label. In Spring 2018, I will be based in Indianapolis as a resident artist with Indianapolis Opera. I received my Bachelor's degree in Voice from the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY), and hold my Master's degree in Voice from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. I am due to receive my Doctorate in Voice, also from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory, in April 2018. I have served as faculty member at Wittenberg University, teaching Voice and directing Opera Studio, as well as the Cincinnati School of Music and the Queen City Music Studio. In lessons, you can expect a tailored approach that helps you reach your individual goals. I believe that a solid technical base is essential to keep you singing healthily for a lifetime, so we will spend half the lesson time on the basics of alignment, breath, phonation, diction and style. The second half of lessons is dedicated to working on repertoire of your choice! You can choose the songs, or I am happy to make suggestions. Singing is the most wonderful way of expressing yourself, and I have dedicated my life to exploring my own voice as well as leading others in their own vocal journeys. I would be honored to help you find your voice!

Fotina really worked hard to help me find my most mature and full voice. She was incredibly good at hearing exactly what was happening in my body and was able to quickly remedy it with some warm-ups and different exercises. She’s outstanding!!

While taking lessons with Fotina, I gained valuable knowledge and experience on how to use my voice in multiple aspects (support, tone, lyricism and etc). She always goes into each lesson ready to give 110% and encourages you give that same energy and effort towards the music. This has made me an overall better musician far past what I expected for myself and helped me find new goals to strive on.

I only worked with Fotina for one semester at Wittenberg University but it was fantastic. She is very nice and patient and knows lots of techniques to help strengthen your voice.
