I want to teach you how to express yourself through music. I've been inspired by music since I was young and have been involved in one way or another since I started piano lessons at age 3. I've been playing guitar for over fifteen years and written and recorded music for about eight. Whether you want to go into music seriously as I have, or just use music as a hobby and way to express yourself, I want to help you accomplish your goal.
*** Lesson Details ***
Each person is different and learns in a slightly different way. Having said that, there are certain essentials which must not be ignored. If you've never taken lessons before, we'll start with the fundamentals, how to hold the guitar properly, make chords, build up finger strength, properly tune the guitar, know all the strings, and most importantly play songs. You will learn how to read basic music, but I can teach you how to play by ear too. Before we have completed our series you or your children will have basic knowledge of all these things and a desire to explore at least some of these aspects further.
For me, the most interesting music reveals the unique perspective and feelings of the person who makes it. Having conquered the essentials I will encourage you to be creative with your developing talents. I can teach you about song structure and I can teach you how to jam with your friends. If you are interested in writing and composing, I can help you with that too. We can take a look at your favorite artists and try to discover how they accomplished and perfected their sound. If you want to learn how to record I have a computer equipped with Pro Tools and would be glad to show you how to use it.
You'll spend time listening to me of course, but I hope to spend much of my time listening to you as well. If reading music doesn't inspire you we can focus more on learning by ear. It's up to you. You'll need your own instrument obviously, though you can leave it at home if you don't want to carry it back and forth. I have guitars here. I request that you purchase a book with text and exercises so that you can practice and study what you learn in the class. Even if you do not want to read music, you will need to know the neck and conquer scale formations and chords. We can choose the text based on your needs.

Erik was a great teacher. He was really nice and friendly. He was always available for questions outside of the lessons so always willing to help out. As an intermediate player I would highly recommend Erik to anyone else.
Erik was an amazing teacher. I was only a beginner but after my first month I felt really comfortable with what he was teaching me. Traveled to me and I would recommend him for any level of student.
You will learn so much with Erik! He has a solid grasp on a lot of music theory and knows how to break that down and explain it. The sessions are fun! I always look forward to the lesson, and they seem so short because the time is flying by. I definitely recommend Erik as a teacher.
Great teacher. I am learning at a very quick pace and Erik never stumbles when I ask him questions; and I sure do ask a lot of them and most of them being technical.
Eric has been an amazing instructor for my 2 teen-aged sons. He is professional, calm, and patient, working with each person at the appropriate level. So happy we finally found a wonderful instructor.
Amateur? Get to Eirk
If you're a first timer, this is the teacher you need. For me, it was impossible to know what a string was named or what a chord sounded like until I got to him. He's a very patient teacher and has some clever manners to teach the very basics.
Erick is. Very good teacher, very kind and has patience.
Erik is an excellent guitar teacher. I am an adult beginner, and had never had a lesson before. He reviewed the fundamental techniques and quickly got me on my way with a few songs. I highly recommend him.
I like Sonias progress. You are doing great on the basics.
He's patient. He's fun to work with. I'm learning a lot!
knows his stuff and a good teacher
