I provide a fun, supportive and creative environment for my students, exploring music with enthusiasm and finding new ways of approaching the voice to facilitate a healthy technique.
I teach students of all ages and levels, and all musical genres. I believe that in order to sing any kind of repertoire (whether it be rock or opera), you first need to understand and work on the fundamental principles of singing; body alignment, breath support and a clear, resonant tone.
Originally from Gainesville, Florida, I started studying piano at the age of 6 and then started voice lessons around the age of 8. I started mainly with musical theater and pop music, and it wasn't until high school that I left Gainesville to pursue a more rigorous arts education at Interlochen Arts Academy. There, I discovered my love for opera and classical music, and then went on to receive my Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, and my Master of Music from San Francisco Conservatory.
Studying and performing music has been such an integral part of my life, and I have a lot of enthusiasm and energy to teach aspiring musicians!
I teach private and group voice classes
I was in charge of scheduling at Bay Area Summer Opera Theater (BASOTI). I had to organize the faculty and student's schedules during rehearsals, lessons and performances.
While a student at Oberlin Conservatory, I was assigned to teach students within the College. These were private voice lessons, twice a week for half an hour.
I was the assistant to the head of the Education Department at Cleveland Opera. I worked in the Cleveland public schools and created online interactive games and tools for students to learn about opera.
