Every summer, I get to teach and work with kids in 4th through 12th grade in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan at the Superior String Alliance Music Camp. During these three one-week-long sessions, students get to learn orchestra music, play in small chamber groups, take private lessons every day, and have fun playing games and meeting new friends!

I've been teaching since 2010 and I believe anyone can learn to play the cello. My lessons are catered to the specific needs and abilities of each student and I encourage daily practice routines. I assign my students a new scale and Schroeder etude every week (though some scales and etudes may require more time) and technical tools needed to practice their solo repertoire. Playing the cello should be fun, so maintain a positive attitude and if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

My name is Elisabeth O. and I'm finishing my Master of Music in Cello Performance at DePaul University. I received my Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Missouri- St. Louis in 2013 and I've been teaching privately since 2010. I love teaching students of all ages and I believe anyone can learn to play the cello and have fun doing so. I encourage my students to practice their scales everyday by assigning them a different scale every week. Depending on their level of playing, I also assign them an etude to help strengthen their technique. Each lesson is catered to the specific needs and abilities of each student. No two students are the same and everyone has their own pace at which they learn. Consistency is key and practice makes permanent!
