I tailor my teaching approach to my individual students' needs, and help my students pursue the piano at the speed and level of intensity they desire. I am as happy to help beginners take casual lessons as I am to help more advanced students prepare for recitals and auditions. I believe that a varied dose of repertoire with a sprinkling of scales and exercises is essential to any pianist's success. Most importantly, I help my students develop musicality alongside their technical skills.

About Elias M.

Hello! My name is Elias, and I'm an orchestra and opera conductor, pianist, and cellist. I currently conduct the Apollo Ensemble of Boston and serve as an assistant conductor for the University of Michigan Campus Philharmonia and Symphony Orchestras and University Philharmonia and Symphony Orchestras. I graduated from Harvard College with my B.A. in music in 2016 after transferring there from the Tufts University/New England Conservatory Dual Degree program, and I'm currently pursuing a master's degree in orchestral conducting at the University of Michigan. As a cellist, I have attended various music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival and School and the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and I have performed in concerts and masterclasses across the country. As a pianist, I have served as a rehearsal pianist and vocal coach for numerous operatic productions, and I frequently accompany both singers and instrumentalists. I am excited to be taking piano and cello students of all ages and levels.

Elias has been my piano teacher for 5 months and a half. He's very kind, patient, methodical and detail oriented. With his continuous help, I went from zero to playing minuets by Bach and Mozart with ease. I also learned to play scales, arpeggios, progressions and a lot of music theories along the way. In my opinion, what sets him apart is not only does he teaches you how to play, but also teaches you how to phrase music with lines, contrasts, crescendos and decrescendos, making "real" music. I really cannot thank him enough for my progress, and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to play great music!
