I communicate academically to many levels of students to instill a trust within the lesson on facets of information pertinent to skill-building. Demonstrating is a large part of my teaching strategy, plus supplemental material, diagrams, and immediate feedback, including emails on lesson topics as a review, are all important qualities in my work for students. I teach responsibility and organization of concepts, and make the skill eventually easy for the student to perform. Fundamentals are essential so I expect students to do much work outside of lessons in order to benefit from the teachings. I hold a Bachelor of Music Performance in Trumpet from the University of Texas-Pan American, was a two year Texas All-State Musician, gold medalist at Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest on multiple instruments, and performed three years in Drum Corps International including a World Championship.
