About Douglas H.
Anyone can learn to play the cello! I am Douglas Harvey, and I have had a full career playing the cello all over the world!
At the age of 17, I won my first professional job as cellist in the Austin Symphony. A few years later, I became the orchestra's Principal Cellist, a position I have held for over 20 years.
In 2002-2005, I toured the world with rock and roll hall of fame legend, David Byrne. There is no reason to be scared of playing what ever type of music you want to on the cello! It can lead to great experiences!
I have recorded several albums. I have two solo cello albums, "Works for Solo Cello, " and "Works for Solo Cello, Volume 2." Both of these solo albums feature works of Bach which have been a central passion of mine throughout my entire life of playing the cello - as might be the case with you!
I received a 2021 GRAMMY nomination as a guest artist on, "The Singing Guitar," an album by the GRAMMY Winning Choir, Conspirare. I was so thrilled to be recognized for my work on "The Dawn's Early Light," a beautiful new work written by Kile Smith, who wrote the cello part with me in mind.
I just know that whatever stage you are at in your musical journey will be enhanced with one to one teaching, coaching, or mentorship, and I hope you will join my class of cellists today!
