I have been teaching oboe for 20 years and have had students of many nationalities. The lessons will have a variety of materials and can be custom-made to meet the student’s needs and goals. We would study scales, etudes, solos, chamber music and composition. Oboe techniques such as vibrato, special fingering, tonguing, musicality, and suggestions for reeds would also be a part of the lesson. If possible, I love to play duets or at least demonstrate concepts and ideas. If the students would like to play a particular style or music, they just need to let me know.

- Teaching since:
I have both a bachelor and masters in music. I have been very fortunate to have amazing teachers: John Mack (Cleveland Orchestra), Pam Pecha (Cleveland Orchestra), Louis Rosenblatt (Philadelphia Orchestra) and Adrian Gnam (Mercer University). Playing oboe has allowed me to play in many orchestras throughout the world and make friends with many different nationalities. Music is really the universal language. I have performed with the Guangzhou Baroque Orchestra, National Symphony of Abu Dhabi, Jakarta Concert Orchestra, Bruxelles Orchestra, Canton Symphony (USA) and played in quintets and trios in the US, China, Taiwan and Abu Dhabi. While most of my playing has been classical, I also play jazz whenever I could and one of friends nicknamed my playing, “J-Oboe.” While most of my students did not pursue music degrees, one of students was accepted and graduated from the Eastman School of Music.Show More
Dianne is very committed and organized instructor!
My name is Carlin, concertmaster of the Guangzhou Baroque Orchestra. I had the privilege to collaborate with Dianne, both in the orchestra and as soloists. Her beautiful tone, impeccable intonation, combined with warm and easy going personality, made her a very popular person in the orchestra.Show More
