Hi my name is David and I love and enjoy teaching guitar lessons to students of all ages and I come to your home for lessons. My goal in life is to enrich people's lives with music. The first thing I do is interview the student and find out why they want to play the guitar and what are some of their goals. Then I find out what style of music they would like to learn. I have the student come up with ten songs they would like to learn. I take this information and structure future guitar lessons around the essential elements of these songs. I design each lesson to teach the specific skills required to learn those songs. I create an organized custom guitar lesson workbook for each of my students at no cost to the student or parent. This way, my students have a weekly organized practice routine and they become successful. Having a teaching degree, (B.A. Music - Conservatory of Music - Concentration: Studio Composition / Master's in Education - M.A.T. / Adolescence Education (Grades 5-12) 3.56 GPA).

I create all of the guitar lessons to meet each students individual needs that include lessons on theory, technique, rhythm, chords, scales, riffs, arpeggio's, songs, and exercises etc. I break down songs into easy digestible parts so students can learn a song in a logical and most manageable way. I use a color coded method to teach that I created that help students not only learn and understand scales and chords but also they are able to see visually how scales and chords are created. I currently teach private guitar lessons and have worked for 12 years in our local schools as a teacher with students K through 12. For 2 years, from 2012 to 2014 I taught an after-school enrichment guitar and songwriting class. I created the curriculum and music workbook specifically for 6 and 7-year old children whom I taught at Pequenakonck Elementary School in North Salem, NY. In College I won an award for the most Improved Studio Composition Student at Purchase College. I incorporate lessons that I have learned in the classroom as a teacher to help my guitar students learn. I feel the most important thing for my students to learn about music is to have a lot of fun.

This may just be the best instructor in the history of Instructors!

David has been mentoring our Foster Child and not only am I impressed with his personalized lesson plans, professionalism and overall organization, but more importantly I'm amazed by the connection he's made with my Foster Son.

It's the latter part that money just can't buying is very hard to find.

If you're in search of an instructor, be sure to give David a shout - you will not be disappointed!

Dave is both a musician and professional educator, which made him a great guitar teacher for 2 of my daughters, between the ages of 6 and 12. He provided each of them with a binder organized by tabs to hold the songs, theory and notes he brought to each week's lesson. Dave asked the girls about their musical tastes so he could develop lesson plans that held their interest. He is reliable and arrived on time each week. I was so impressed with Dave as a guitar teacher that I recommended him to our local school's after school enrichment program, and I would recommend him for in-home lessons as well.

I have learned more with David in a month than I have in various attempts to learn the guitar on and off over the past 20 years.
He has a comprehensive approach and yet it keeps me interested and makes me really want to practice.
He is also teaching my 11 year old son and had captured his imagination too.
Furthermore he comes to our home and is a Luthier to boot! Setup both our guitars to the point where I kid you not they both sound SO much better.
I cannot recommend David highly enough.

Dave taught my son guitar for about five years, from his middle school years up through high school. He always made my sons lessons fun and taught him music theory all along with learning enjoyable songs. Dave always encouraged my son to play things that were challenging and interesting yet complex enough to grow as a musician. He continues to play guitar and his ongoing love for guitar is due in part to Dave's years of lessons giving him the level of skill and joy.

David is a former student of mine at the COnservatory of Music at Purchase College. I picked the first category since every one of them fits David. At college, David majored in studio composition, a commercial writing major. So he brings a thorough understanding of musical structure. He knows how what you are playing works, and he uses it to help you achieve a greater understanding of music. I thoroughly recommend this dedicated teacher.

Dave is amazing. My daughter (10) is a beginner guitar player (1 year experience) and having a blast with Dave. Dave is an inspiration. He makes it fun to learn, and custom creates books for her, using music she loves. He is so thoughtful about how to rewrite songs in order to teach the skills and music theory she needs at her level. She loves practicing and looks forward to every class. It's also super convenient that Dave comes to our house, and having an hour long lesson means they can cover a lot of ground. We all love listening to them jam from the other room! Cannot say enough about Dave. He is amazing!!!

I Have known David for many years, first as a student at Purchase College, and then as a fellow musician/educator in the professional field. David is a well rounded musician. Besides being a great guitarist he is also an accomplished composer and educator. David has a great personality and connects well with his peers and his students. I highly recommend him.
