Learn to play the guitar from a highly experienced music teacher

The first thing I do when I meet a student is to interview the student and find out why they want to learn how to play the guitar and what are some of their goals. Then I find out what style of music they would like to learn. I have the student come up with ten songs they would like to learn. I take this information and structure future guitar lessons around the essential elements of these songs. I design each lesson to teach the specific skills required to learn those songs. I create an organized binder guitar workbook and having a teaching degree I create all of the lessons to meet each students individual needs that include lessons on theory, technique, chords, rhythm, scales, arpeggios, songs, song form, and exercises etc. I use a color coded method to teach scales, chords and theory that I created that help students not only understand scales but also they are able to see visually where chords come from. I break down each song into easy digestible parts so students can learn a song in a logical and most manageable way. I incorporate lessons that I have learned in the classroom as a teacher to help my guitar students learn. I feel the most important thing for my student to learn about music is to have a lot of fun.

Hi my name is David and I love and enjoy teaching guitar lessons to students of all ages. My goal in life is to enrich people's lives with music. I can come to your home in a 50 mile radius or teach you online. I create an organized custom guitar lesson workbook for my student that is organized and they can become very successful playing guitar. It has many guitar lessons in it and keeps my students focused and organized. I teach in many different music styles. I have over 18 years teaching experience teaching acoustic and electric, especially to beginners, children, teens, and adults. I have worked actively as a school teacher for 18 years. I graduated from a Conservatory of Music at Purchase College NY. I received a B.A. in Music - Concentration (Studio Composition) in 2001. In 2008 I earned my Master's in education from Manhattanville College NY, M.A.T. / Adolescence Education (Grades 5-12) deans list 3.56 GPA. I create individualized customized lessons to meet each students individual needs in a wide range of student ages, ability and learning styles. I teach students theory, technique, songs, song form, song writing skills. Students learn about chords, rhythm, scales, melodies, riff's, exercises and good practice habits and students explore a variety of different styles of music. Finally and most important. I teach that music is a creative process and we need to open our minds to all music that is possible. All we need to do is take one step at a time and you will be amazed at what you can create. I even won an award in college for being the most improved studio composition student. I have been worked for over 20 years as a teacher, musician, composer, and a performer. Why should students pick me as a guitar teacher? I believe that my education, skills, music experience as a guitar teacher, songwriter, musician, and performer will go a long way in helping my guitar students become informed and educated guitar players. I have many years of experience playing and teaching guitar, I have the patience and understanding as a educator to understand how students learn and can teach to many different learning styles and my main goal is to teach my student how to play songs they like and to have a lot of fun playing the guitar.

David has been teaching my daughter for over two years now and it is amazing to see her progress - she loves it and is understanding the theory as well as the practical. It was so wonderful watching I decided to start lessons as well and have been learning for the last 4 months....slowly but surely! I would recommend David to anyone - he is a good teacher and moves at your individual pace.

I only have high accolades for David. I've learned more from David in the mere 5 lessons then I learned in a years worth of lessons in the past. His method of teaching is perfect with the right amount of homework. He customizes the lesson for the type of music I ultimately want to play with a good balance of theory and practical lessons to get me there. Bravo!!!
