I studied trumpet at the University of WI -Eau Claire, and the University of WI - Milwaukee. Fortunately, some of my teachers had great teachers. I am a 2nd generation student to Adolf Herseth of the Chicago Symphony, William Vacchiano of the New York Philharmonic and the Julliard School of Music, Mr. R Schilke of Chicago- famous as a teacher and for his brass mouthpieces, in addition to studying privately with Alex Wilson - Principle Trumpet Buffalo Symphony, Thomas Dvorak, and Henry Mautner, Wayne Cook, Karl Ratzer, A.Scott Gunter, and Howie Schneider. I have to say though, I learned the most about putting air through a brass instrument as a teenager playing in my home town drum and bugle corps in the 1970's whose brass instructor was a man named Jay Johnson. He gave me the foundation on which everything I do is built. I began teaching lessons while still in high school and continued in college.
As a performer, my trumpet has literally taken me around the world. Now, as I am getting older (54) I am becoming much more interested in sharing the knowledge that was passed to me by true masters of this beautiful instrument.
...and it all starts with sound and realizing there is nothing more beautiful than a simply melody that lifts one soul...one easy effortless breath at a time...
Whether you are already a pro, or just starting out, I look forward to sharing a lifetime of trumpet playing experience with you. Let's get started today!
