I'm a trumpet and piano playing songwriter that received his bachelors of music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where I studied with Michael Sachs (principal trumpet/Cleveland Orchestra). Afterwards I attended the University of Southern California masters of music program where I studied with Boyde Hood (utility trumpet/Los Angeles Philharmonic). Prior teachers have included James Darling, Raymond Mase, Steven Ravaglioli, and the late Leon Russell. I am a founding member of the Ilium Brass Quintet. The IBQ were the brass quintet fellows under the direction of the American Brass Quintet at the Aspen Music Festival as well as finalists in the Coleman and Fischoff chamber music competitions. I am also a founding member of Brass Pacifica, a brass quintet that has dedicated itself to teaching at schools all over Southern California. Brass Pacifica is on the teaching artist roster of The Los Angeles Music Center and the Orange County Performing Arts Center and has performed at hundreds of schools for thousands of students. In addition to being a private teacher and freelance trumpet player in Southern California, I have performed with such orchestras and groups as the San Francisco Opera, Jacaranda Chamber Music Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay, the Santa Monica Symphony, the Culver City/Marina Del Rey Symphony, the Peninsula Symphony, and many more. I was invited to be a guest soloist with the Culver City, Topanga, and Brentwood symphonies as well as the Pepperdine University Orchestra. I have won many awards and scholarships, such as the Nelson Riddle Scholarship, the Bernard Adelstein award, the Palisades Symphony Scholarship, and more. In addition to trumpet playing, I am also an accomplished singer/songwriter/pianist, and have composed hundreds of songs and recorded dozens with several bands in the Los Angeles area including The Leisurelies, Brandon and Leah, Oddus, and more.
