Hi! My name is David. I am a father of two, a 6-year old boy, and 10-month old daughter. I am a retired high school band director of 23 years. My family and I recently located to the Bluffton, SC area from Dallas, TX.
I have extensive experience teaching and coaching beginning through advanced level players on every instrument in the band family, including piano. I can be helpful to students at all levels of playing to help sharpen their practice, performance and auditioning skills.
I specialize in marching percussion and conducting. If you are interested in developing your rudimental percussion skills, I have insight informed by over 20 years of experience in the Drum Corps activity. For aspiring conductors, I have a Masters Degree in Wind Band Conducting and seek a few individuals to join my conducting studio. Enjoy learning the finer artistic qualities of conducting while exploring some of the finest repertoire in the band and orchestral libraries.
Mr. Carbone has extensive involvement in the international Drum Corps activity. He was a member of and/or instructor for ten Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championship Finalist Drum Corps, including membership in the renown DCI World Champion Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps. As an adjudicator for DCI, Mr. Carbone has been invited to judge the DCI World Championships multiple times.
Outside of his busy judging schedule, Mr. Carbone enjoys serving as a guest conductor, program coordinator, designer, and consultant for band programs across the country.
As a Director of Bands at the high school level, Mr. Carbone’s marching bands in Ohio and Texas advanced to Bands of America (BOA) Regional and Super Regional Championship Finals competitions fifteen times. While at Bellbrook HS (OH), Mr. Carbone led the Marching Eagles to five consecutive BOA Semifinals appearances and two BOA Grand National Class Championships.
