With over 20+ years of teaching and performance experience, I am able to teach everything from World Percussion (Drum kit, Congas, Bongos, Pandeiro, etc.) to Orchestral Percussion (Xylophone, Marimba, Snare Drum, Timpani, etc.). In my course we will also cover music theory and notation, enabling you to learn faster and better! All genres are available. We will create a syllabus that fits your goals and conditions, with a motivating and personalized methodology. Languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian.

Davi Martinelli de Lira is an eminent percussionist, timpanist, drum set player and educator who has established an admirable career in the USA and abroad. Well-known as an international chamber and orchestral musician, he is a current member of the Southwest Florida Symphony and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Davi was a founding member of the Paulo Costa Trio, a Jazz/Brazilian music group that made a big impression on the Ohio Northeast’s music scene. Side by side with Paulo Costa (singer and guitarist) and Felipe Brito (trombonist), Mr. Martinelli de Lira performed in multiple establishments in Cleveland, Akron, Cincinnati and Columbus, bringing the most authentic and captivating Brazilian rhythms to thousands of people. As an educator, Davi has given masterclasses and coached percussion students in several summer festivals and conservatories around the world, including Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and the United States. In addition to privately teaching percussion, timpani and drum set, Davi was a faculty member of the Jumpstart Program, a social project led by Colburn School in Los Angeles, California from 2019-22, and currently maintains a private teaching studio. Aside from music, Davi also likes to work out, go out with friends and practice sports, such as soccer, swimming, and Kung Fu, which he believes bring balance to his physical and mental health.

Davi has been amazing to work with! The kids respond very well to him and he has catered his approach to the different kids, he even changes what type of music he teaches them with to their favorite songs. This keeps this engaged and excited for lessons. We started the kids on lessons when they were 6 & 7 and they have done very well and progressed. I would highly recommend Davi to anyone wanting to start their kids on drums/percussion or advance their own knowledge.

I took online lessons with Davi a few years ago. At the time I was the drummer of Soluarea, a Brazilian Rock/Reggae/Funk band. Davi helped me to polish my technique and improved my music theory knowledge. Due to his lessons I acquired a better control on the set and was able to learn songs faster. I really enjoyed his teaching approach!
