Is it time for Bach? Is it time to Rock? Then it's time to contact me and get started! I'm Darren and I've been a musician my whole life. I've been a full time music teacher and performer for 15 years, and I've taught over 25,000 lessons and done over 3,000 performances (solo, duo, rock band, ensemble) - I know what it takes to get you where you want to be!
Whether you want to learn a few songs or play professionally, I can get you there. I teach, and have performed professionally on, piano, guitar, bass, drums, and voice. I won't keep you stuck on lesson book songs forever - you'll be playing "real music" as soon as possible even if that means I arrange it for you!
I'm easy to talk to and I won't make you feel stupid for not knowing an answer or taking a long time to "get" something. I do take a complete approach to anything I teach, which means that you will be required to learn things like theory, scales, technique, and ear training at a level that is appropriate for your current musical ability. I'm not easy but I am good, and you'll thank me for that later as many of my students have!
The convenience of online lessons is AWESOME. No need to waste time and gas driving to lessons, or paying extra for the teacher to drive to you. If you're sick or I'm sick, we can still do the lesson! Something came up and you or I have to do your lesson at a different time or on a different day? No problem - rescheduling is easy! You'll be at your most comfortable in your own home on your own instrument.
Why use a real music teacher instead of Internet video sites? Simple - I have found that most "learn to play music" videos contain errors, and even the best video can't give you feedback so that you are sure you're doing it right. When you learn something the wrong way, it's a lot harder to unlearn bad habits than it would have been to learn it the right way the first time. So, contact me and let's get you playing music the right way!
I am comfortable and experienced teaching people with special needs such as autism, cerebral palsy, and physical handicaps.
