    About Daniel S.

Self taught musician - drummer for 14 years - guitarist for 11 I have been in & out of bands for the past 12 years. I play drums in a band called Fight Amp. In the past two years, I've done 2.5 full US+Canada tours, and one tour of Europe I've recorded all of the instrumentation (drums, guitar, bass, percussion) for a studio project called In Fixtures. I am also a visual artist with a BFA in illustration. *** Lesson Details *** Each individual lesson will be focused on expanding the students vocabulary. However, lessons will be rife with tangents and general life lessons. My main goal is to help you to realize your own self-sufficiency, and that there is no obstruction on the path between you and your (musical) achievement. I feel many people are dissuaded by too academic an approach to learning music. I want to foster the attitude that music is more within your grasp than you expect. I do endorse & utilize technique to the fullest extent, but my philosophy on technique is that technique is the way to put what is in your head into your hand, not the other way around. You will learn the proper methods, yet be able embrace all of your strange habits. My job, among other things, is to tell help you decide which is appropriate and when. *** Studio Equipment *** Full Drum set - 4 Piece Pearl. Single kick pedal standard, but double kick pedal available. 14" Hi-Hats, 19" Crash, 20" Crash/Ride, 22" Ride *** Travel Equipment *** (Drums) Provided: Drums sticks, Syncopation (book) To be provided: A drum set or practice pad(s), (Guitar) Provided: Squier Tele and/or Yamaha Acoustic To be provided Guitar: A personal guitar, picks, and amplifier if needed *** Specialties *** As a drummer, I play in a band that others would categorize as 'Metal', but overall I would decline to categorize myself with any specific style. I am proficient with technical music (odd time signatures, poly-rhythms and poly-meters)
