Hi, my name is Dan and I've been playing guitar for 35 years and teaching for 15 years. My first priority is to find out what specific music you like, so you can begin learning songs that have meaning to you. My specialties are rock and pop guitar [electric or acoustic], but I also have years of experience with jazz, funk, country, and classical, so I can teach you any style that interests you. I spent a year focusing on jazz and pop guitar at the Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, before studying music at UCLA for 2 years. Over the last 20 years I've performed with dozens of bands and artists in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. I love playing music, and I'm passionate about helping you reach your musical goals, whether your goal is to play professionally, or just play for friends and family. I'm an easy-going and patient guy but I will push you to be the best you can be!
I've taught students of all levels and musical styles over the last 15 years. Since the 90s I've played in dozens of original and cover bands. I'm currently in 2 professional cover bands in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as 2 original bands.
I was a classical music major for 2 years, but switched to English because my musical interests were leaning more heavily to the rock and pop world.
My studies at Grove included harmony, melodic improvisation, sight reading, chordal accompaniment, jazz, pop, and rock styles, finger style guitar, and group performance.
