Hi, I'm Curtis aka C-Funk.. I am an passionate musical artist who is looking for the opportunity to use my craft to enhance your skills or give you the basics needed to become a skillful and creative musician. I have played the bass guitar for more than 30 years of my life, and the most important thing I feel that you need to know about me is that I love what I do and I'm good at it! While I am a product of the funk and rock era of the 70's and 80's I am also knowledgeable and skillful in many genres including gospel, blues, southern soul/R&B, contemporary jazz and more. I am a self-taught musician, however I have had some formal training and worked with several well trained professionals. Additionally, I have taught several now very successful musicians. I also strive to stay a perpetual student of the craft myself, as I am still constantly learning and growing as a musician and teacher. I keep my skills sharp by playing regularly with other musicians and for churches, bands and special events.
*** Lesson Details ***
The way that I have developed the amount of musical skill and knowledge that I have acquired is the same way I hope to teach you. My goal is to help my students to learn musical proficiency. I stand on two basic principles 1. Practice and 2. Passion. If you put the time into practicing, you will obtain your desired results, and if you are passionate about playing, then practicing will be as natural as breathing! My teaching style is rather laid back and I like to take a fun approach. However, the whole purpose of me making it fun, is so you will enjoy learning. In order to learn you must put in the time and the practice.
You will be learning my specialty; ear training through vocal harmonizing as you learn the music you enjoy. You will learn techniques such as slap, thump, and fingering styles of playing. I will also educate you on where the bass fits into the basic ensemble as well as basic theory of the guitar. You will also learn metronome and tabular notation as well chord and scale progression.
