I teach elementary, middle, and high school students voice lessons. 
 I help them prepare for school musicals, voice recitals, and other singing opportunities.

Private Voice Teacher

As a teacher, my purpose above all is to unlock a student’s true potential, whether it be musical of otherwise.  I do not believe in trying to make or force a particular sound with any student.  When proper technique is instilled the voice will go in the direction it is meant with freedom and ease.  My goal is to guide the student along their journey of self-discovery.  My motto is “if you can feel it, you can repeat it”.  What I mean by this is when a student experiences the unique sensation of using the breath efficiently or producing sound without tension a light bulb turns on and they now have a better chance of continuing proper technique.  In order to help students feel these sensations in the body that are necessary for singing I use various physical exercises to help create more body awareness.  For singers our instrument is our body, and everyone’s body is uniquely their own.  I have found every student has his or her own method of learning, whether that is visual, aural, kinesthetic, or analytical. In a private voice lesson, the student’s preferred method of learning quickly becomes apparent, and I tailor each lesson to that specific student.

Lyric Soprano, Corey hails from Chicago, but has happily made the South her new home.  This January she made her debut as Musetta in La Boheme with Opera Carolina.  Mrs. Lovelace was happy to join Andrea Bocelli as a guest artist in his Valentine's tour at Charlotte's Spectrum Center in February.  As a featured soloist, she had the pleasure of performing in China with the iSING! International Festival 2019.  In recent seasons, Corey performed the title role of Cendrillon in La Cendrillon with Little Opera Company of Charlotte and Mimì in La Bohème with Central Piedmont Opera Theatre.  In 2018, Corey received the First Place Award from the Opera Guild of Charlotte’s Opera Competition. Past engagements with Opera Carolina include singing the role of Nanita in Opera Carolina's Opera Xpress production of How Nanita Learned to Make Flan and Kate in the staged premiere of Lost Connection: The Tinder Opera.  Corey made her European debut as a member of the Opera Studio at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.  Corey completed her Master in Music from DePaul University in Chicago, IL where she had the honor of studying under Jane Bunnell.

Corey is amazing!! She has helped me improve so much over the years. Her grasp on how to help young minds understand vocal technique is impeccable. She made me a better singer and person. Anyone who is her student should consider themselves lucky!
