Hi! Welcome to my profile. I'm so happy to introduce myself to you. I am an actively gigging musician in the Los Angeles area, touring the United States. I love teaching singing and songwriting! From beginners who want to sing their favorite cover song to aspiring songwriters who want to create their own album, I can help! My education consisted of many classical private lessons. I took private classical piano lessons for 10 years, and I received the Certificate of Merit Level 10, and did 10 years of Piano Guild. I started writing compositions, competing in the local songwriting competitions at age 7. I took private classical vocal lessons, sang in high school choir, and competed with UC Berkeley's acapella group, The California Golden Overtones. I was awarded Best Soloist for the ICCA's Western Region Competition (Just like the movie Pitch Perfect!). After graduating college in 2008, I started studying pop music under great pop vocal teachers like Lis Lewis, Carol Tingle, and Jeannie Deva. My unique background has led me to teach methods mixed with pop and classical techniques. I now have the honor of traveling to schools like Pitzer, UCLA, UCSD, and Ridgecrest Intermediate School to teach singing and songwriting workshops. As an active performer, I competed in the first season of NBC's The Voice, and placed as a top 60 contestant out of 70,000 auditionees. I have released 2 CD's and have received highly positive reviews in Music Connection Magazine, M Musicians Magazine, and MTViggy.com. I have recorded music with Mikal Blue, Colbie Calliat's producer, and am now working on my first full length album, which was fan funded via Kickstarter.com. I raised 14,000 and am now working with producers to complete my album. I am constantly learning in the music industry and am still learning from the greats. Let me pass on the lessons I've learned to you! *** Lesson Details *** I am a laid back and attentive instructor who will balance both discipline and fun to keep you WANTING to learn! I believe in strong techniques, but I believe that every student has a different path to getting to where he/she wants. I believe that the WHY is more important than WHAT. Our lessons will stem from inspiration and a desire to communicate through music! I will provide warm up CD's that I use myself before vocal performances. I also use techniques I learned from training to compete on The Voice, and different lessons I learned from actually performing myself. I am constantly gigging, so new techniques and songs are always going to be close within our reach. Within three to six months you will be able to confidently sing and perform cover songs of your choice. If you decide to work with me on songwriting, you will learn the necessary theory and philosophies to help you create great songs. For songwriting I use books like Pat Pattison's "Writing Better Lyrics". There will be a lot of soul searching, and I strongly believe that analysis of other artists will help you find your own voice. When we get together during the first lesson, we will figure out your strengths, weaknesses, and most importantly, your GOALS. I will then create a detailed and strategic map for us to begin our adventure! *** Studio Equipment *** I have two keyboards and microphones for mimicking stage performance, and recording equipment so you can leave with a high quality audio of your lesson. Gated and free parking in an underground lot. *** Travel Equipment *** I can bring along sheet music and simple recording equipment to log lessons. I would require a piano from my students who want to songwrite. If not, they can come to my home studio, which is safe and comfortable. *** Specialties *** Pop Songwriting Classical or Pop Vocals Effective Music Performances

What can I say, Connie has helped me so much and a world of knowledge and talent is hers, yet she's one of the most humble and kind musicians I have ever met. Her criticisms are constructive - I just had a successful debut because of the tips she has given me on how to be my genuine self onstage, on banter in between songs, on making my arrangements emotionally dynamic, how to dress as the performer, everything! I'm so grateful to know Connie and get training from her one on one, she's definitely the teacher to contact!!

Connie is a great mentor to work with. She really takes the time to invest in her students. She's well educated as a musician/singer but also knows a lot about the music industry. She can offer a lot of great advice for your career. I love how I can show up to a lesson with no particular agenda and we end up creating a song or just having a really good session of sharing ideas. She keeps me motivated and inspired. Would definitely recommend her!
