Study Classical Guitar: Suzuki and Traditional Methods

I have been teaching guitar for many years in a variety of settings ranging from small private studios to the university level. I employ a variety of teaching methods including the Suzuki Method, in which I am specially certified, as well as other modern and historical methods. I also like to emphasize the development of aural skills (listening and singing) and music theory knowledge in conjunction with guitar instruction in order to help my students develop into more well rounded musicians.

    About Conn S.

I’ve been playing guitar most of my life and have my Bachelor’s in Classical Guitar Performance from the University at Buffalo. I’ve performed in many recitals both as a soloist and in ensemble, and have played in the masterclasses of many great guitarists such as the Castellani-Andriaccio Duo, Thomas Viloteau, Xavier Jara, and Leo Brouwer. While classical guitar is my main focus, I’m also proficient in many other styles including jazz, funk, rock, country, folk, and world music and am equally comfortable on both acoustic and electric guitar. I have taught in many different settings including private studios, public schools, and universities, and currently hold teaching positions with Castellani-Andriaccio Guitar Studios, The Hispanic Heritage Council Guitar Initiative, and The University At Buffalo. I am especially proud of my work with the Hispanic Heritage Council Guitar Initiative which is a nonprofit that provides instruments and instruction to underprivileged youth.
