My approach to teaching is personal and practical. I understand that each student has unique learning styles, goals, and musical tastes, so I strive to create a personalized lesson plan that caters to their individual needs. I also believe in the importance of building a strong foundation of fundamental skills while also incorporating fun and engaging material that keeps students motivated and excited to learn. When teaching acoustic guitar, I focus on developing proper technique and building a practical understanding of music theory. We'll work on exercises to build finger strength and dexterity, as well as learn how to read guitar tablature and chord charts. From there, we'll explore different genres and styles of music, and learn how to play songs that inspire and resonate with each student. In terms of songwriting, I believe that everyone has the potential to be a songwriter, regardless of their level of experience. My approach is to demystify the songwriting process and help students tap into their creative potential. We'll explore different song structures, chord progressions, and lyric writing techniques, and work on developing the skills needed to turn musical ideas into fully realized songs. Ultimately, my goal is to help students develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their musical dreams.
