Hi! I think learning online can be a beneficial tool or even good primary means of skating instruction, if it is what you are looking for. Although most of my experience has been in hands-on, on-the-ice teaching and also, in a form in the ice rink I now live after that, helping coach of mine while a student was “growing up,” I also have been making a habit of helping fellow skaters +friends on the ice “edit their skating” in video and I currently help my best skating friends using video... I have coached every level beginner >moderately advanced level Webcam use on the ice can be almost like a real lesson though. I do not have a preference whether or not you do use a “live” coach at your home rink and you don’t have to worry about competitiveness arising any with that part of your skating; I in fact, think, it could be a very great combination for your skills to have me help and have a live in-person coach, who keeping in mind you have to pay more, to them, though.
