Learn violin with bilingual teacher - 19 years experience!

I have studied pedagogy through the Suzuki Method with various teachers for 15 years. With my students in mind, I have studied child psychology and child rearing models such as the Montessori Method in order to best understand and best engage with my students at their level of cognitive development. As a violin teacher, my goal is to create a positive and welcoming learning environment while cultivating the student’s love for music. I believe in developing music-reading as well as ear-training skills in my student’s music education. I work hard to tailor each lesson to meet the individual student’s musical goals, level and learning style. Aside from musical development, the student will also learn important life skills such as good study/practice habits, time management and concentration among other benefits that will be useful their whole lives. I have 19 years of experience teaching students from age 2 to adult and from absolute beginner to college-level students. As a conservatory trained violinist, I teach a solid foundation of violin technique, theory and repertoire. I currently maintain a private violin studio in Yokohama and one in my home in Kawasaki. Since the pandemic, many of my students have preferred to stay online or have hybrid lessons. Over these past few years I have fine tuned my online teaching techniques and equipment so I can continue to give my best either online or in person. I can also teach in both English and Japanese. Learning to play the violin is a lifelong process. Music can lead us to new opportunities, meet interesting people and travel to unique places. Everyone can learn to play the violin. It is never too late to start! I look forward to being a part of you or your student’s musical journey.
