I am a professional saxophonist/flutist in central Florida who gigs over 200+ dates a year. I freelance with original bands, wedding and corporate groups. I play in jazz, funk, R&B, reggae, soul, rock, songwriter, classical and world music styles.
I received my A.A. in Music Performance at Valencia College in Orlando (2012) before becoming the music tutor there for one school year from 2012-2013. I then studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and moved back to Florida. As of 2017, I relocated from Winter Park to Lakeland.
I've taught privately and at schools for both young and adult students for many years during this time.
I teach saxophone, flute and clarinet to elementary through high school level students.
Alto/Tenor/Baritone Saxophonist & Flutist with over 1000 gigs to my credit. I currently freelance with over a dozen ensembles/artists and perform in just about every genre. I've been living off performing music since college.
I solely tutored all levels of music theory, ear training, sight singing and class piano for 3 semesters after I graduated Valencia's music program at their east campus in Winter Park for one school year.
I taught 1/2 hour and hour lessons for beginners up to high school students at their former studio in Avalon Park.
We've been seeing Mr. Christian since November for beginner flute lessons for our 12-year-old daughter. From the beginning, Mr. Christian has been incredibly patient and encouraging while being firm and uncompromising. Our daughter has gone from having difficulty with "Hot Cross Buns" to confidently attempting All-State Band pieces, largely thanks to Mr. Christian's instruction. In February, our daughter scored a superior in Solo and Ensemble after just three months of Mr. Christian's tutelage, plus she is jumping to middle school symphonic band next year. We cannot recommend Mr. Christian highly enough for anyone, of any age, aspiring to learn how to play the flute well.+ Read More
Mr. Christian is not only an amazing musician but an awesome educator. He motivated my kids to practice and we've had a great experience with as a teacher.
We've so enjoyed having Christian teach our 8-year-old son. Christian makes a point to integrate musical numbers that are interesting to him - like the themes to Jurassic Park and Sponge Bob! My son adores him and loves their time together. We look forward to a long relationship with Christian!+ Read More
Christian was on time and organized. He quickly assessed my daughter's ability and was able to get her ready for 7th grade playing a new instrument in the jazz band. Since she has taken lessons with Christian, she has received superiors at solo and ensemble twice now and we are so thankful. Would hire again if he moves back to Orlando.+ Read More
I have been working with Christian for several years. Not only is he a top notch musician, he is a role model, even to those of us who have a few years on him. Christian is patient, professional and business savvy with regards to the music scene.
Christian Ryan has an approach to music that is both Fun and rewarding. Whether it has been through discourse on music theory or a guiding me through my first notes on the saxophone, he has a style of explanation that could benefit both new students and seasoned musicians.+ Read More
