    About Chris P.

Music is simply part of my blood and for me music is theatre, drama, tension, release, story and this is why I love musicals so much. My first instruments were ukelele and guitar when I was about six years old and I was in choirs before kindergarten all the way through college. In Jr. High I taught myself piano and took formal lessons throughout high school and college. I was also fortunate enough to have been able to acquire around ten different brass and reed instruments and became very familiar with them which has helped my orchestration immensely. Currently I am focusing on French horn and cello. To date I have produced my own work, helped produce a friend's work, conducted choirs and chamber ensembles, orchestrated and arranged scores for professional theatre, worked at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, and have written 5 musicals to date. I'm not perfect. I struggle with ADHD and depression and have had to develop methods and habits to overcome my own road blocks and so have many tools to offer the unconventional student. My world has revolved around music and though I haven't taught it as much I have spent most of my adult life as a teacher in one form or another. Over the last 7 years I have worked professionally as a personal trainer and swim instructor and have helped people get through frustration and burnout to reach their goals. It's funny how applicable the skills I picked up there really are to music but alas my passion is not in fitness, it's in music and theatre so here I am. When contacting me, please do not ask me to contact you outside of take lessons. There is a lot of phishing teachers get on this site and it's not possible to tell what is and what isn't a scam so I do report all messages requesting an outside email or phone call. Thank you for your understanding.
