My name is Chloe, I'm 22, and I have been a pianist my entire life. I began playing by ear at age four, took private lessons from age seven, and studied music at Rogers Middle School and Pittsburgh CAPA High School. I was trained heavily in theory, but I understand the importance of individual expression. I take music seriously, but I can relate to young musicians who desire to have fun while they are learning. I had many teachers at school who simply drilled music theory into my head. While I am thankful for their lessons, I wished they had made it more inspiring. That is what I want to provide for my students. I want to show them the beauty of music theory. I see public schools cutting funding for music programs, and that makes no sense to me. Music provides stimulation for the brain which is important for young people to be able to grow in other areas as well. I was blessed to have the opportunities I did, and I would like to give back by providing that same opportunity to another young musician.
