Suzuki Violin Teacher Training - Unit 1
Aug, 2019Suzuki Association of the Americas
Teachers enter the Teacher Development Program with well-honed playing skills, thorough musical knowledge and a strong interest in teaching children. The Program’s carefully organized curriculum is presented by experienced SAA-registered Teacher Trainers who guide the participants through the Suzuki Method© repertoire and pedagogy, unit by unit. Along with the pedagogical skills for working effectively with students of all levels and different learning styles, the Program provides opportunities for an ever-deepening understanding of the Suzuki Philosophy and an increasing awareness of the influence that Suzuki teachers have on their students’ families as they fulfill their responsibilities as nurturing educators. Mutual respect among colleagues, a generous spirit of sharing and a belief in the value of Suzuki teaching as a profession are the indispensable underpinnings of all areas of Suzuki Teacher Development.

Greater Philadelphia Suzuki Association
Aug, 2019Our hope is to develop people with a good heart, through a positive environment of music learning. GPSA strives to enrich the lives of children through the Suzuki approach to music instruction. The Suzuki philosophy is based on creating a positive environment through which children can learn. This requires strong emphasis on the involvement of the family and learning in a combination of private and group settings. Positive encouragement, step-by-step improvement, development of strong listening and memory skills, and building upon learned repertoire are cornerstones of the philosophy. We strive to keep raising the quality of Suzuki music teaching and the quality of children's abilities. Teacher workshops, master classes, informal sharing of ideas, access to videos and teaching information, and assistance through the Suzuki Association of the Americas help teachers improve their teaching skills. Students participate in a variety of activities with others from a wide geographical area in events which motivate interest and raise musical standards.
