I like to keep the lessons engaging by finding songs and material that the student is interested in. Every song is a world in itself and can offer many insights into the history and development of music.
I'm currently finishing my second album of music that I wrote with SlowPokeNTurtle which is a band of guitar, bass, drums, and horn section. I've also been playing solo shows all over New England and just had recording session in Chicago at Experimental Sound Studio.
I graduated from Berklee College of Music and worked in the Somerville Public Schools for 10 years.

Charlie is the most patient and musical music teacher I have ever experienced and I am old! His approach to teaching is first rate. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all forms of music.

This guy is incredible. He creates a safe space where you feel inspired to improvise and experiment with music. He showed me songs that changed my music taste and playing style completely. The best part of learning with him is that it feels like you are jamming with a good friend. He not only is an incredible musician but also a great mentor. I have only good things to say about Charlie

Charlie McClaren is one of the greatest music teachers I've ever had. Learning music with him never felt like a chore, rather it was a journey we shared. He's patient and understanding, but he'll make sure you understand the music thoroughly. He showed me that music was more than an art form, it's a lens you see the world through. I can't recommend Charlie enough, no matter where you are on your musical journey, he'll take you to the next level!
