    About Caleb S.

I'm a music-loving stay-at-home dad who enjoys sharing his hobbies of guitar and trumpet with the world! I have been teaching students of all ages, from elementary-age to older adults, for over 4 years now and I particularly enjoy introducing beginners to the joys of a new instrument. Whether you are just picking up your instrument for the first time, or dusting it off after years of sitting in the closet, I'm honored you would consider me to help you along your journey. While I have studied music and music education at the university level, I have also learned a great deal through real-world experience and playing alongside other musicians and gleaning whatever I can from them. I have played both trumpet and guitar my whole life and consider myself to be a life-long learner of both instruments. Since becoming a father, I've enjoyed the experience of taking everything I've learned and sharing it with those around me, especially with those who are new to music or have always wanted to give it a try, but maybe have lacked the confidence to really give it a go. I believe anyone can learn to play an instrument and have fun doing it. I am extremely patient and have taught a wide variety of students the basics of the guitar or the trumpet, whether they are "naturally gifted" or consider themselves to be tone deaf. Having played both instruments for almost 20 years now, studying with various teachers and logging countless hours of personal practice and live performance, I have learned a great deal about both instruments in various genres, from jazz to classical to pop to folk to worship. I have also taught for over four years now, so I've learned what you will need to be a successful musician and get off on the right track. I try my best to stay out of the thick weeds of impractical, "high brow" music and focus on what's really important to most students - learning how to play songs that they love and can share with others! What good is learning an instrument if you only know how to play scales and exercises? Of course, we'll learn those, too, along the way :) If you're ready to learn something new, or if you've tried the guitar or the trumpet before but are nervous to give it another shot, let's meet up and have fun learning music together! Music should be fun, so message me and let's have fun learning to make music!
